Huge

Last week I received an email from a friend and it the middle of the email it said something like this....

OMG!!! Hanna is getting HUGE!!

Some people might take that to mean huge as in a hefty little one. Not I. I knew what she meant.

A few days before I received that email Stephen and I were at the store and I had found a cute late fall/early winter outfit for Hanna. It was 24 months. The woman at the register was trying to be nice. {We won’t talk about how she was quickly shoveling a snack in her face when we approached the counter and that the entire time we were checking out she kept trying to remove the crumbs from her enormous large chest} The conversation went a little like this…

Cashier - How old is your daughter?

Me - She’ll be 20 months this week.

Cashier - She must be huge.

Well gee, thanks for that lady! I explained to her that Hanna is very tall and we need that size more for her height then because of her weight. I don’t think she bought it.

When we took Hanna for her checkup in August she was still in the 95 percentile for her height. I don’t think I really noticed it until I put one of her 18 month dresses on her a few weeks ago and it looked like a mini dress.

Poor child. I hate having to buy pants that are longs. Excuse me, I mean huge.

Rookie Move

We’ve learned our lesson.

Hanna is a smarty pants.

Do not give her any advance notice to things we will be doing or places we will be going.

If told too early, a meltdown is sure to be had when we don’t do said thing or go to said place immediately.

Hence the freak out in the kitchen last night.

Who knew that little girls were required to wear something other then underpants outside to play?!

Tasty Tuesday

This weeks recipe is kind of one of my own. I made something similar one time and I can’t find the exact recipe anywhere so I make it my way now. I love this side; I make it to go with chicken, steaks, burgers, pretty much anything. What is even better is that my darling daughter who will not eat potatoes {unless they are in the form of a french fry} eats them right up. I think it must be the cheese!!

I start with 4 baking potatoes {it is enough for the 3 of us with a little left over sometimes}

I clean and slice the potatoes into ¼ inch slices.

I put the potatoes in a sealable bag or a bowl with a lid.

To the potatoes I add:

¼ teaspoon garlic powder

¼ teaspoon onion powder

¼ teaspoon basil

½ cup of grated parmesan cheese

Then I add olive oil. How much I’m not really sure. I just start pouring and stop when it looks like enough.

Give the bag/bowl a good toss to coat the potatoes. {Add more oil or cheese if necessary}  There can never be to much cheese!!

I line a cooking sheet with one of those silicone mats and cook the potatoes in a 350 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until slightly crispy.

Enjoy!

Decisions

There is never a dull moment in this house or in my life {in general}. Just when things start to calm down something comes along {whether big or small} that makes it not so calm. I’d like to say that I see calm in my near future but I’m thinking that that is far from the truth.
The thing that sucks about being an adult is the decisions that you have to make. No one likes making adult decisions. Or at least I don’t know many people that do. Trying to predict the affects of your decision on your future is impossible. You can only make the decision using your best judgment and how you think the future will unravel. What makes it even worse is when there is a child who is directly affected by the decisions you make. Younger children don’t always directly feel the affects but really, they aren’t stupid.

There have been a lot of decisions made in my house lately. None of which I am ready to go public with. And I am not sure I ever will be. Trust me when I tell you that Stephen and I think that they are the best for our family, right now. We love each other very much and want to give Hanna the best life possible. Oh and Morgan too!

Thank you for letting me get this out. I have been wanting to blog about this for sometime but I haven’t been able to get the words down exactly as I wanted.

One Week Potty Training Update

We did!! We’ve made it one week {okay nine days now} into potty training. The first day was rough. I won’t lie. There was lots of washing of the training pants. But then I went away for a girl’s weekend and left Daddy, Grandma, Aunt Becki and Grammy to deal with it!!

I must say that I am overly impressed with how well it is going. Hanna hasn’t quite got down the science of telling us exactly when she needs to go but she does let out a little scream and stops dead in her tracks when she feels a dribble. I would say that half the time we can successfully get her to the potty before it turns into a full blown accident.

Yesterday was an amazing day. There were no accidents all day. None! The day even included a trip to the ice cream shop without a diaper. I was so excited.

But then she woke up this morning forgetting everything about potty training and made up for the lack of accidents yesterday before lunch today. I can only hope that she will wake up from her nap in a better mood and we can accident free afternoon. {I know…I probably just jinxed myself!}

I can only hope that this week will be even better then the last!!
