Darn you...

I wish I had known when I was younger what I know now.  Yes, we've all said that a time or two.

I was one of these girls....

...and we all know about these girls.  They sell things in boxes once a year that make it hard to say no to.

I could eat the whole box.  Ok...who am I kidding here?  I could eat 2 whole boxes.

I have 2 favorite kinds and I can be very stingy when it comes to sharing.

One day my daughter may want to be one of these girls.  I may not allow her to sell those boxes.  I don't know that I could keep them in my house.

So I want to know...which of those boxes is your favorite?
Check out the poll over on the right.

My new crush...

Don't tell Stephen about this.

I have a crush on another man.

Alright...I almost love him.

I don't know if it is the hair or the way he talks...

but it's something.

I vs We

I don't remember exactly how I phrased it.  But thinking about it now, I hope I said "I" instead of "We."

You know... "I" am pregnant not "We" are pregnant.

For the record I AM NOT PREGNANT!

Ok...back to the discussion at hand.

I read this article/blurb on this topic.  I agree with some of the comments that yes, while "we" (as in my husband and I) were expecting, I was actually the one that was pregnant.  So it is acceptable (to me) for a guy to us the phrase "we" are expecting but weird when he says "we" are pregnant.  Does that make sense?

I don't think that a guy gets to say "we" are pregnant because well they are not actually the one giving birth.  They can say that "we" are expecting...I'm ok with that.  I think Stephen used to tell people that is wife was pregnant....and that in turns means "we" are expecting.

Are you "we" are pregnant person or an "I" am pregnant person?

Hello??

My child is not hard of hearing. Stubborn…yes. Completely enticed by the tv when it is on…yes.

So why is it that when I am trying to get her attention or correct her when she is doing something wrong, do I find myself speaking loudly…almost but not completely to a “yelling” level? Is it because I want her to understand me or is because I get annoyed that she is ignoring me?

Either way it is frustrating for me and I am sure for her. She probably thinks I like to talk to her like this.

The more I think about it, it’s like when you are talking to an elderly person. You raise your voice a little because you want to be sure they hear you. {Don’t lie….you know you do it!}

I guess I do it because she is a fresh one year old girl who is still learning the meaning of “no” and “pretty” amongst other things. If I speak loud enough maybe the word will sink in and she will magically learn the meaning???? Wishful thinking I suppose.

I know it is late in the game but I think I now have my New Year’s resolution. I am going try my hardest to not raise my voice when trying to discipline my child.

And by discipline I mean pull her away from standing directly in front of/touching the 50inch tv {cause it will hurt her eyes!} or pull her out from under the end table/behind the dog crate/out of my nightstand drawers…you catch my drift.

Tell me I am not the only Mom that does this…..

1 year check up

Friday Hanna had her 1 year visit to the pediatrician.  The doctor was very pleased.  She agreed that we have come along way from that tiny little 4 pound baby that was born a year ago.

Hanna was tipping the scale at 20 pounds 15 ounces and she is 30 inches long.  That puts her in the 50th percentile for weight and the 90th percentile for height.  Basically....she is tall and skinny :)

Following our visit on Friday, Hanna made the switch {cold turkey!} from formula to whole milk.  And she loves it!  I have to admit I LOVE it too!  It is so nice not having to make formula once or twice a day.

The doctor asked a lot about the foods she is eating.  They were easy questions to answer though because she pretty much eats everything we give her.  I may have said this on here before but Hanna eats better then most adults I know. People warn me that will change but I think it will only change if we let it.  Hanna is accustomed to having fruit with breakfast and veggies with lunch and dinner. And our plan is to keep it like that. French fries are a real {rare} treat for her.  Sometimes though, I think she may turn green and start clucking!!

The doctor also wanted to know how she is doing with learning new words.  Ma {MaMa and Mom}, Da {DaDa, Dad}, Nan, Bob {we don't know any Bobs!} and Bot are all words she has down pat. We do get the occasional Pop and Baby.  And according to some family members {who may or may not need their hearing checked ;)} she also says Grandma, Sue, Becki, Matt....oh the list goes on and on!

Hanna is a pro at high five.  She waives bye and she makes puckering kiss sounds.  She loves to imitate us which for now is a good thing but I don't know for how much longer.  Walking....well she is close.  Very close.  She likes to walk and just hold one finger but she is very afraid to let go of that one finger.  I know it will just happen one day.  I suppose I should enjoy what little time I have before it happens.

Yesterday we made the big car seat switch.  Yup Hanna is now a forward facing girl.  Her first forward facing ride was with her Grandma and Grandpa to Ikea.  Grandma says that Hanna was just watching where she was going instead of napping like she had hoped.  All the looking around must have tired her out because she slept through her entire stroll through Ikea!  In the afternoon we took her to Grammy and Grampy's to have dinner for Grammy's birthday.  I was hoping she would nap most of the car ride {it's an hour} but no.  She was too busy looking around and only decided in the last 10 minutes of the ride to shut her eyes.  Awww...but we love her, cranky and all :)

Apologies

I have to apologize for the lack of posting lately. Hanna has had a cold that she ever so kindly passed on to me. My cold became worse after spending time with a family member at the hospital {not for me…for said family member}. No worries though, everything is fine. I finally called the doctor after being sick for a week and a half and got an antibiotic. It is wonders what it has done and yes, I do wish I had sucked up and called sooner.

Anyhoo…I promise to try and get back on a regular posting schedule. Should I fail….just remember I’m not 100% better yet ;)

Party time!

Here are some photos from Hanna's 1st birthday party that was held on Saturday.  Thank you to everyone who made this day special for Hanna!

The tutu outfit is from Paisley and Posies, an etsy store.  There was a bit of an issue with the shipping but Suzanne was able to get the tutu/onesie/headband to us in the knick of time {1 hour before the party started!}

March for Babies

I am so excited!  On April 25th I will be joining many other people at the Philadelphia Art Museum to participate in the March of Dimes March for Babies.  While we were not directly involved with the March of Dimes when Hanna was born, they do wonderful work to help families with premature babies and in the prevention of premature births.

I understand that times are tough.  I do.  If you can spare even $5 to help in this cause it is greatly appreciated. Babies just like Hanna need your help!

Thank you!
